The Office of Global Michigan is partnering with the US Citizenship & Immigration Services’ Detroit Field Office on a virtual informational webinar about the Unauthorized Practice of Immigration Law (UPIL)/Avoid Scams. This event will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (EST).
The U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) Great Lakes-Midwest District Detroit Field Office would like to extend an invitation to stakeholders to join a virtual Unauthorized Practice of Immigration Law (UPIL)/Avoid Scams informational webinar. This engagement will be scheduled for Tuesday, July 20, 2021, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (EST).
USCIS Great Lakes-Midwest District appreciates that the stakeholders invited to this meeting provide important services, conduct meaningful work with the public, advocate for the public, and help disseminate important immigration information to those in need. USCIS, and its governmental partners, also understand that there are many people in our communities that are affected everyday by common, as well as not so common, immigration scams.
That being said, this event will give stakeholders from our community an opportunity to listen to, and ask questions of, Federal and State officials familiar with this subject. Topics include immigration scams, how to avoid them, and, which Federal and State government agencies the public can reach out to regarding victims of UPIL/Immigration Scams. There will be a Q&A session at the end of the webinar. Government agencies collaborating on this webinar will include USCIS, Federal Trade Commission and the State Bar of Michigan.
Please feel free to send advance questions you would like answered at this event to CommunityRelations@uscis.dhs.gov. (Please note: Deadline for advance questions will be a week before the webinar date.) As always, this platform is not for engaging in case-specific inquiries/issues, we ask that you please keep your questions/topics as general as possible.
If you are interested in joining this webinar, please RSVP to CommunityRelations@uscis.dhs.gov by no later than Monday, July 19th. When we receive your RSVP, we will send out a reply e-mail which will include the link to the virtual webinar platform that will be used for this event. Thank you.
