APACC 1st Restaurant Week - Daebak: Where Korean Cuisine Meets Awesome!

If you find yourself in Southfield, you absolutely have to make a stop at Daebak!

Daebak: The Best of Korea in Michigan

Located at New Seoul Plaza, 27566 Northwestern Highway and open Sunday to Thursday from 11:30 AM to 9:30 PM and Friday to Saturday from 11:30 AM to 10 PM.

Our first visit to New Seoul Plaza was filled with excitement. Before we even reached Daebak, we passed Myomee Coffee and Dessert Café.  Bingsu and bubble tea lovers, you’ll be in heaven here! I couldn’t wait to get my Bingsu fix after our meal!

We also peeked into KPOP Nara (Nara means ‘world’), the first and the OG – so imagine think all things K-pop. It’s a dream come true for K-pop enthusiasts! Apparently, they have held many K-pop fan events and I can imagine how much fun the events were!

    What We Tried:

“Daebak” is a popular Korean slang meaning “the best,” “cool,” “awesome,” or “amazing.” and let me tell you, it lives up to its name in every bite!
Chris and I reminisced about our time in Thailand, where we often indulged in all-you-can-eat Wagyu BBQ and wings every other week, and Daebak did not disappoint!
With the rain drizzling outside, we kicked things off with Haemul Pajeon (a savory seafood pancake) and Makgeolli (unfiltered rice wine). It’s like an adult version of Yakult—pure magic! Chris also enjoyed his Terra.

Then came the wings—honey garlic, sweet & spicy, and soy garlic. Crispy, flavorful, and downright addictive! And the corn cheese was a game-changer!
The star of the show was the Cote Sal (prime Angus short ribs) and beef combo. Daebak is a meat lover’s paradise! We devoured it all, from the thinly sliced brisket to the marinated short rib slices. It also came with steamed egg, kimchi, side dishes and small spicy soybean soup. At this point Chris and I are like kids in a candy store though we definitely saw food coma incoming!

By the time we finished, we didn’t have room left for the Bingsu, but we will definitely return with the kids to enjoy it!

    The Daebak Experience:
Daebak was bustling with diverse groups of families and friends. It’s evident that owner Sarah Yi's mission is all about uniting people to enjoy Korean food and culture. Sarah and her family have turned Daebak into a sanctuary for Korean food and culture.

Before we knew it, we were exploring Tiger Market and loading up on goodies to take home.
In short, our Daebak experience was nothing short of 대박 (daebak)—a Korean feast of epic proportions that left us craving more!

Special thanks to our board of director, Tim Ha, for recommending Daebak to us!
