    Nature of Work
    The purpose of this job is to perform business office accounting and administrative support. Provides customer service, payroll, financial matters, purchasing activities, and other duties as assigned. Collaborates with management on business process improvement. Provides guidance and training when necessary.

    This posting may be used to fill positions in multiple departments. The current opening is in the City Treasury.

    Minimum Training and Experience
    Required Education and Experience

    High School diploma, plus some college-level training in financial systems, business administration, accounting or related field
    --AND--
    At least three (3) years of responsible experience in clerical accounting, billing collections or finance customer service work
    --OR--
    Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
    Preferred Education
    Associate's degree related to financial systems, business administration, or accounting.
    Other Necessary Qualifications
    Knowledge of:

    Business automated systems and procedures for bill creation, bill collection and follow up systems
    Collection operations, processes and/or procedures
    Departmental rules, policies and regulations
    Financial operations and the practices governing such
    Applicable software applications
    English grammar, spelling, punctuation
    Principles and practices of basic bookkeeping
    Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment
    Skill in:
    Customer service
    Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships
    Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature
    Performing basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ratios
    Ability to:
    Interpret and apply City policies, regulations, procedures, standards and requirements
    Maintain recordkeeping systems, organize and conduct technical surveys and prepare comprehensive reports
    Post, check, balance, schedule and reconcile accounts
    Prepare clear and concise reports
    Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
    Meet schedules and deadlines of the work
    Understand and carry out oral and written directions
    Accurately organize and maintain paper documents and electronic files
